Description

This is a unique opportunity to join a new start-up energy efficiency company focused on commercial and industrial lighting applications. We are recruiting for an EMC / Regulatory Compliance Engineer to spearhead efforts to comply with the various mandatory requirements of UL, CSA, CE, RoHS, WEEE, etc., and various emerging voluntary lighting industry standards such as Energy Star, IESNA, etc. The candidate may also be required to assist with electrical, optical and thermal measurements of HID fixtures.

Responsibilities

  • Identification of all relevant mandatory standards applicable. This will include UL, CSA and CE standards.
  • Point of contact within the company for regulatory matters.
  • Perform pre-submission EMC measurements on products.
  • Make recommendations on design for compliance.
  • Selection of equipment required for pre-submission EMC & safety testing.
  • Carrying out necessary changes to products where required.
  • Submission of products to accredited test labs and monitoring progress.
  • Generation and submission of supporting documentation.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrate skills with database software, MS Windows, Project, Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrate skills with organization and documentation.
  • Demonstrate skills in multi tasking, scheduling, time and project management.
  • Demonstrate skills in Photometric testing, automated test and data acquisition programs such as Labview.
  • Plus for skills with AutoCAD or similar CAD programs, PCB and schematic capture software.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others across functional organizations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Professional Experience

  • 5-7 years of hands on industry experience in teams that deliver products to the commercial marketplace.
  • Plus for experience with lighting products and their function.
  • The successful candidate should have previous EMC, safety or regulatory experience.

Education

  • Bachelors or Masters degree, equivalent electronics experience or alternate education required.
